What’s New in Google Lit Trips?

What's Your Story.doc

The concepts for Google Lit Trips can easily be applied to students’ personal writing as well. This document provides some ideas as to how students can do a little introspection in search of their own stories to tell.

GE on iPadsTEMPLATE.doc

This is a simple template for creating pop-up windows that was designed to work on iPads (which they only “sort of” can do now).

However, it was designed to work on computer-based Google Lit Trips as well. So, it’s one simple way to alleviate many of the technical issues associated with developing Google Lit Trips.

Placemark Labels and Icons BASIC

When you create a placemark, each will have a label and a visible icon. By default, the label is white. This is fine unless you happen to be marking a location in Greenland; or, even a spot in a concrete parking lot! It’s a simple task to pick text colors and sizes that make the label much easier to see.

Google Lit Trips Practice Materials...

When I do hands-on workshops, I frequently use the following materials related to Henry Wadsworth’s “Midnight Ride of Paul Revere” in order to introduce the basics of creating a Google Lit Trip. By providing the materials the time spent in the learning curve can be reduced significantly. However, it is good to keep in mind that perhaps one of the biggest benefits from creating Google Lit Trips comes from the learning students do about the subject from having to find such resources themselves.
